Veneers Q & A

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are incredibly thin “shells” of porcelain that cover the visible sides of your front teeth. Veneers are usually placed only on the upper teeth that are visible when you smile or speak, but they can be placed on lower teeth if the shape of your smile reveals those teeth.

Veneers have long been a favorite treatment among celebrities and public figures. They offer the ability to transform your smile in just a few short visits. One of the biggest advantages of dental veneers is the fact that they can correct numerous cosmetic issues at once, making them a great value as compared to having multiple different treatments.

What kinds of cosmetic issues can dental veneers correct?

A great set of custom dental veneers can improve many aesthetic issues. Some of the common complaints that veneers can correct include:

  • Chipped or fractured teeth
  • Discoloration that cannot be corrected through teeth whitening
  • Irregularities in the size or shape of teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Minor alignment problems

If you are ready to achieve the smile of your dreams, custom dental veneers have a lot to offer and are well worth consideration.

What is involved in getting dental veneers?

During the planning stage, Dr. Bubernak gathers digital imaging to learn more about the exact size, shape, and alignment of your teeth. If you decide to move forward with custom veneers, you’ll receive an injection of numbing medication to keep you comfortable.

Dr. Bubernak removes a small portion of your natural tooth tissue to make room for the new veneers. He then makes a set of impressions to send to the dental lab where your custom veneers are crafted. A set of temporary veneers is placed to protect your teeth until the permanent veneers arrive.

No two sets of dental veneers are ever exactly alike. Your veneers are sculpted to create an appealing curve to your smile and to correct any issues with size or shape of your natural teeth. Once your new veneers are ready, you’ll return to have them checked for fit and appearance before being cemented into place. You’ll be able to share your smile with the world immediately.
